- This week I continued to review the ECA Webwatch (Early Childhood Australia).
First the big news in the Early Childhood Education world is the celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, on October 11th hence forth. This stresses the need for equal access , equity, and inclusion for girls around the world to attend school. Girls rights are key for social justice to prevail and as we know, education is the most important way to set ourselves free, for at this time in our worlds history, their are thirty two million girls who should be attending primary school , but are not.
A Part of this weeks news letter made reference to Promoting Staffs Mental health, and they discovered through a recent survey that when it comes to mental health in the workplace the priority lays in preventing poor mental health, community building, and resilience. Good to know that they are addressing and supporting their staff in this area.
Another step forward for Australia's Early Childhood Education is that the Australian government and the state and the territory government have signed a National Partnership agreement on Early Childhood Education to achieve universal access to at least one year of preschool by 2013. That is one big step forward.
